SABBAT
Participatory Concert
Two women appear, carrying two wicker baskets filled with unknown things, and an accordion. A few words are spoken, a breath is drawn. Perhaps that is all it takes to issue an invitation to the sabbath.
No sooner said than done. The audience finds itself at the heart of the ritual, through its presence and the voices it lends. Procession, song, dance, readings and wishes are all essential stages of the rite, which our two performers move through, bringing to life a world that is at once cursed, malevolent and playful.
Inspired by reflections on the place of women in Western society, and equally intrigued by the many — often joyful — forms that resistance and counter-power can take, the Bertocchi–Taffin duo sets out to reinvent the sabbath.
Co-produced by: La Revue Éclair
Designed to adapt easily to unconventional venues, the project embraces an immersive, intimate acoustic approach. It aligns with our environmental goals for 2026, notably through a lightweight, adaptable scenography.
This project was commissioned by the Musée départemental des Arts et Traditions populaires in Champlitte (Haute-Saône, France).
With the support of the Maison de la Musique Contemporaine.
