Not Only a Trio

With Not Only a Trio, Adrien Desse presents a new repertoire of original compositions, written specifically for the instrumentation of this distinctive line-up and tailored to the musical personalities of his fellow musicians. Two saxophones, one drum kit. A trio, but not only…

The range of timbres is vast. Melodies cross paths as rhythms interlock. Colours blend when the stakes are worth it. The three musicians weave their voices together, opening up countless paths to explore. Should they fill the entire sonic spectrum or venture only into its extremes? Establish a sense of calm or play with the absence of silence?

The boundaries between composition and improvisation gradually dissolve. Each musician’s playing emerges in turn from this rich, interactive interplay; the roles of the instruments fade and merge. The collective musical conversation sweeps listeners into a whirlwind of rhythmic joy and harmonic exchange.
