What if we learned to embrace the many identities of our voice? What if we discovered a whole world of sounds we never knew existed?
Through experiments with vocal timbres and resonators, Lucie Taffin invites participants to explore something beyond the pursuit of a “beautiful” singing voice. An exploration of vibrations, using both specially written songs and music invented in the moment.
Working with original songs, Lucie will then guide participants in making choices of timbre to find their place, cut through or disappear within the ensemble and the acoustics of a space, without relying solely on volume.
Composer, lyricist, singer and accordionist, Lucie Taffin follows the thread where tradition comes to the surface before breaking apart, forging a distinctive approach to listening and playing that moves between composition, theatre, song and improvisation.
A songwriter since childhood, she began performing with her sister in the duo Juja Lula. She performs her own songs with Danse Panique (with Jérôme Roubeau on drums) and in the French-Italian duo Pic Panacée (with Marta dell’Anno). She has also explored a wide range of other repertoires: Novarina–Paccoud (Le chanteur en perdition, with Dominique Parent); Sabbat and Tour de chant with Christine Bertocchi; choral singing with Les Voisins du dessus; the songs of Gaston Couté with Bernard Meulien; and songs and storytelling around L’arrière-pays with Ze Jam Afane. She has also composed instrumental pieces for film and theatre.
Curious about other approaches to storytelling and musical practice, Lucie Taffin has taken part in several musical creations by Compagnie D’un instant à l’autre, including Les Mondes d’ici, À la croisée des voies, Chemins sonnants and Nous l’espace.
This project is part of the artistic mentorship partnership between Compagnie D’un instant à l’autre and Lucie Taffin, supported by funding from SACEM for the 2026–2027 season.
